  • Jim, It was a pleasure speaking with you the other day and you got me thinking after we spoke. The previous owner had shore power hooked up to a Simlex battery charger (link below) to keep the house and starter batteries topped off.

    I'm no expert in marine electrical systems but am I correct that there should be a shore power galvanic ground isolator in the line from the shore power? There wasn't one. So far as I get deeper and deeper into the wiring it appears he had direct connection from shore power thru the charger directly to the batteries. Hence, he would have a direct ground to the boat's ground system, no ?
