Default What for a storage cover?

I'm about to pick up a new 23 Regulator. Can anyone recommend a storage cover and say whether over the t-top or under is better. I have had a Sunbrella cover on my Boston Whaler for 5 summers with little signs of wear.

Depends on your usage. Make it convenient to use your boat. If you go out every couple days, you won't use it if it takes too much time and effort to put it on and take it off. But if you only get out every couple weeks, that will be less inhibiting. Mine is under the T-top and takes less than three minutes to put it on, maybe one to take it off.

Also, think about the color. If it is dark, even if it is under the T-top, it may get hotter for your electronics.

Default Boat cover

I have a T-top cover on my 23. It is durable and easy on and off. They make it in a light and heavy version which I have the heavy one due to where I live as it snows here and the lighter cover can rip from the weight of the snow. They are reasonably easy to find used too. Even if you find a heavy duty one, buy it! I think any cover will hold some heat but with the opening at the top I do not believe it is an issue. Bought mine used (2 yrs old) for $350, six years ago and it is still in good shape. Worth every penny.

Reeltor, do you know what brand your cover is or who made it? Where can I find one used for my 23? Wouldn't even know where to look.

Thanks

Great people to deal with. They will make it quick and ship it to your door.

I have the Taylor Made Under the T-top cover it works OK, you get what you pay for it's pretty low dollar. I wanted something I could try to use while the boat is in the water and T-Top covers said they would not even sell it to me for my purpose.

If you want a higher quality go with T-Top if your looking to get a cover that works and go low bid go with Taylor, it's a decent top with allot of care I think I can get 5 years out of it.

I ended up with the LaPorte cover from North Carolina. Looks like good quality, pricey at $1500, great fit, a bit heavy but once it's unrolled on the deck it goes up with one person in 5-10 minutes. One thing about covers that attach below the T-top, they let in a lot of pollen and dust, but do keep out the bigger stuff from the trees.

You'll be happy with the Laporte TTop product. That's what I use. Easy to put on and take off. I got the hang of how to roll it up so it's easy to orient and unroll. My only annoyance is where to put it, but lately I just throw it on the dock and get it after I'm done boating.
