Default 28 Regulator Radar

I am installing a 24 Garmin Fantom Radar on a 15 28 Regulator. Should I put on a pedestal/radar mount? I am seeing a lot with and without. Thanks

On my 26 i mounted it on a starboard wedge made specifically for mounting th radar unit, it is pre-drilled for all the common radars. It doesn't raise the radar particularly, just an inch or two, but set it closer to level, so that when I am running at slow speed in the fog it isn't pointing up into the sky. You want the radar to be close to level at the speed you intend to run in the fog, for me that is pretty slow. I didn't want to go up any more than I had to as I trailer the boat, and wanted to keep my overall height down as much as I could.

I installed a 5 or 6" pedestal with tilt and it made a big difference. Something like this.
