Default Choices on whole new Electronics package

Hey guys, we might be moving up to a new boat soon. I have been out of the current world of electronic packages, since we did the 26 about 5-6 years ago. There is so much new tech out there. Just wondering on what you guys would put in if you had to upgrade this winter. Simrad seemed to be the choice a few years back, now the Garmin and new Raymarine stuff seems to be looking good now a days. What is your guys thoughts on the new stuff?

Thanks in Advance

I love my simrad stuff. Have been on boats with Garmin and Raymarine and I still prefer my NSS Evo2/3 setup. May be just because I am more familiar with them... just my thoughts.

I really like Simrad too, but hearing a lot of good stuff about Garmin. Maybe you'll be able to get better charts from them now that they bought Navionics...

Very happy with my Garmin 1242 XSV - charts are good and by turning on the adaptive charting (whatever they call it) it adds additional bathymetric data to your charting as you go. The sounder adds the additional detail to the pre-installed charts. Software is very intuitive too.

From what I gathered last night, the evo 3 just had some more built in sonar capabilities, the phone connect go free, and a few more advances to the buttons/ touch screen. I just get a bit confused with the add ons for this system. Might be because I have the raymarine. I would have to get the evo3 and just a transducer correct? From what I am reading there is no need for any sonar box at all correct?

If we can agree on a price on the new boat it has 2003-4 Furuno 1949 nav net, with sounder gps and open array. I was thinking about keeping that on there at least for the first year, and installing one redundant system that I could possibly grow into if I choose to remove the older Furuno. I have heard a lot of good about those Furuno's sounder and older but good open array.

Default Simrad

Last boat had NSS2 units, new boat was outfitted with Raymarine. I prefer the user interface of the Simrad units.

I'm a big fan of Furuno & Simrad. Garmin is super easy to use, but I find the product quality is inferior compared to the other 2 I mentioned.

My NSS evo2 16 does not have a sounder box. Plugs straight into the back. I am also installing the older side scan transducer soon and it plugs in also. There are some deals on evo2 remans that come with 1 year warranty and packages.
