Default 2005 26FS repower

I just put a deposit down on a pair of 250 Yamaha’s today!
The work begins soon! Any pointers I should know about moving forward? Engines that are coming off were F225s. Pretty excited about it, thanks in advance!

Congrats on making the move! Does your dealer have the motors in stock? Back in the end of July 2017 when I ordered new F250s my dealer had 1 counter rotating in stock and had to order the other. After waiting, waiting, and more waiting it finally came in the second week of December. It was manufactured in November and shipped from Japan to Seattle then trucked east to NJ. Evidently there is a real back log on getting new Yamahas. My dealer constantly checked on availability and it wasn't good. He was told in December anyone needing new wouldn't see them probably until March/April . And the new design props are another story. Some customers who ordered them last summer still have not received them. But on the brighter side prepare yourself for some GREAT BIG GRINS on the performance difference. Good luck with your upgrade!!!!

yeah it was the last pair that he had in stock so I put the deposit down yesterday to hold them. He told me that actual boat manufacturers were trying to buy them from him, so the data on the yamahas is true. I cant wait. What props did you end up with? He thought he might be able to use mine?

I'm using my props from the F225s, seem to be fine! I put 21 hrs on the motors before the freeze up started. Never ran higher than 4400-4500rpms and saw 36-37 kts. It's killing me now not being able to use the boat! Can't wait until spring. As for performance I was impressed at throttle up, the Reg just jumps on plane and you can really see how sluggish the 225s were. They have a very deep throaty sound compared to the 225s. Lots of "Giddy up"!!!! LOL

That’s exciting to hear. I have the F225s now. Hopefully lots more hours to put on the 225s for now, but exciting to hear about the performance improvement with the F250s
