You are typically looking at 4* to 0* for tilt.

Straight, angled front, or back is up to your mounting position on your top.
True. I was thinking 4/0 but has 30* in my head from rod holders.

thanks

Factory mounts them with zero, I started with 4* and backed it off to 2*. Again it is all up to what is your running attitude when you depend on it the most. I tend to be on plan or very slow, either way I am running pretty level. Those times that I run bow high I am not getting anything but weather on my return.

Did backing it down fix the overall performance? Was there significant loss on plane at 4* vs the new 2*?

If the dome is not mounted well forward and there is no riser mount used the front on the t top can cut off a lot of the forward scanning.

For me 4* was look down to much, and I was loose distance. Again there is compromise, my original radar install was 0*. When I upgraded to the Garmin I was not sure what I would need so I order 4* forward knowing I could shim it back to 0* if I need to. I think right now I have a good set up.

Does it matter if the radar is off to the side vs centered on the t-top?
I want to add a paddleboard up there for when family wants to cruise/beach the boat.

Is that ok to do?

Thanks D

Should not be a problem on a pedestal. If over too far it may not shoot down very well on the other side without one. Here is a Simrad installation manual that discusses radar placement that would apply to all radars. Good info on raising the radar based on to width.
