Once you get the water spots off. Treat the windshield with some rain-x and water will never stick to your windshield again.

Default water spots

have used Meguirs PlastX for both boat and bike windshield. apply with soft cloth and remove with microfibre towel. works well, leaves sparkling finish.
you can find @ advance auto as well as many other retailers.

There is a cleaner called "Wink" it is a rust stain remover, it is an acid wear gloves it will melt your finger nails and burn your finger prints off. Hose or sponge water on the fiberglass below the window you are going to clean to take care of any product that runs.

Get a paper towel fold it in quarters squirt a bit of wink on the paper towel and rub the window with it, work from the top down. This will absolutely take off salt etching on windows I have done it on tons of boats. When done put rainex on the window to stop it from happening again.
