Connect sonar transducers
As most NSS evo2 models are equipped with internal StructureScan, Chirp sonar, and
conventional sonar, the transducer(s) are usually plugged directly in to the back of the unit.
Where required, premium external sonar sources such as BSM-2, may be connected via
ethernet.

Pulled out my C-120 today and if I have a chance take off the radar and wiring out before she gets covered on Monday. I'll be putting in an Simrad Evo3 in the spring.

as far as I know, the only additional model needed for the NSS 2/3 is for 3D. I have side/structure scan on my evo2 and evo3 and the only additional "box" I had is for 3D. I use the 3D scan when I am doing wreck diving and very slow trolling, other than that, IMO, it is not worth the money.

Since you are local, I would take a ride over to the Octopus Marine Showroom (On Belmar Ave in Wall). I was there yesterday and I was amazed that they every display from Raymarine, Simrad and Garmin setup and working and Aaron and his staff know their stuff.

These days, all of these systems are fantastic. And it is completely subjective to say that one is better than the other. And when you look across series and sizes they are all pretty much the same price. I am not a fan of having built in sounders, and other bits. I typically like to have a third display with an internal GPS that I leave off the network, but can connect with one plug as a completely redundant system to get home if something were to go wrong.

Obviously, I have a dog in the fight, but I will say that if you have not looked at the new Axiom 16" Pro series from Raymarine you are doing yourself a disservice. Raymarine post the FLIR accusation is putting out better products than ever. As well, they are offering a 3 year on board warranty, which is amazing considering how complex these systems are becoming.

My choice would be Axiom 16" Pro, CP470 Sonar, B275cHWL ducer, Real Vision 3D transducer (SideVision, 3d, and Downvision in one unit). Evolution Autopilot, 2x icom 506 radios. AIS Receive, and a FLIR hi-res static camera, with the biggest baddest, open array radar you can fit on your hardtop without taking off like a helicopter.

My last bit of advice is if you are looking to have this installed, please do yourself a favor and commit prior to early march, so you do not find out that the install date is in late June or early July. A complex network is not something you want to rush. As well all the dealers in our area are on fire selling boats, so the installer that can do it tomorrow...is not likely the guy you are looking. Any questions on the Raymarine side I am happy to help.

Default congrats!

Congrats on the new boat Dave!

Furuno's new TZ Touch is at least as good as the Simrad. it would have been nice if they came out with this stuff a couple years ago because I really like the Furuno commercial gear.

Once the dust settles and hopefully it all works out, I will reach out to you before I make any decisions.
