I can give you an update on my 2005 23 repowered with the DF300AP. I now have ~15 hours on her (not bad since I had shoulder surgery 6 weeks ago). The cruising sweet spot seems to be 3900-4200 RPM...

Whether or not you will need an amp will depend on the power output of your head unit and the power requirements of each speaker. Does the head unit have enough power to drive the speakers?
